Meet Laura-Dee

Originally from Yorkshire in the UK, Laura-Dee has worked in the beauty industry for over 24 years, starting her career on luxury cruise liners. She went on to work in five-star spas in Bermuda and Grand Cayman, and then at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney, Australia.

In 2008, Laura-Dee worked in a beauty salon in Queenstown and, like so many, fell in love with the scenery and lifestyle the town has to offer.

She had always wanted to teach, so in 2010 she returned to the UK to complete a three-year teaching and assessing qualification, specialising in beauty, massage and holistic therapies.

In 2013, she was offered the position of programme manager at the Southern Institute of Technology in Queenstown, where she spent five years running the department and teaching the beauty therapists of the future.

In 2018, Laura-Dee followed her dream of establishing her own salon and training school, and The House of Beauty Therapy was born. For seven years, she worked hard to build a salon that was welcoming and affordable, even through the pressures the industry faced after COVID.

During lockdown, she had an idea. After so long in the industry, skincare had become one of her great passions, so why not create her own line?

In 2025, Laura-Dee closed her salon to open an at-home luxury salon, Beauty by Dee, where she could focus on her family and clients without the added pressures of running a business and staff.

After years of development, she is proud to announce the launch of LD Cosmetics: a skincare brand made by a skin professional with passion, knowledge and decades of experience that you can trust.
